Health and Nutrition

Nutrition plays a vital role in the key stages of an infant’s life, and this contributes towards its future performances. Having understood the very link, we attempted to make sure that the parents are well aware about the importance of nutrition as well. We address the issue of high rate of malnutrition of the area by providing necessary knowledge to the care givers/ parents who are primarily responsible for the nutrition status of the infants. So, for we have been successful in improving the nutrition status of the children, and we are working towards more improvements by working hand in hand with health ministry.

ECD centers

Ones the parents leave for their jobs in the infants are kept in the crèches (Early Childhood Development Centers) in the estates. This is the place where children’s future is decided. Therefore, we worked on improving these centers in a way it will result in better early childhood development. Early childhood education plays a vital part in children’s life, and with our refurbished and fresh study material, child – friendly learning environments, Child Fund is now capable to providing better learning facilities for infants, with the help of experienced and well – trained teachers who have improved knowledge on home base care, early childhood development, child protection, hygiene, nutrition, and health.

We constantly endeavour to develop these Early Childhood Development Centres, create child friendly home environments, and improve the nutrition status of the children in Nuwara Eliya, to benefit early childhood development of these underprivileged children, to make their development process a successful one.
